How to Upgrade Your Kerrigan Wallet

Your existing wallet carries over on an upgrade — you don't re-import anything. The one rule: back up first. This covers the full-node (Qt) wallet, including old .dat-era versions.

Step 1 — Back up your wallet file

Copy your wallet.dat somewhere safe before you touch anything:

Windows: %APPDATA%\Kerrigan\wallet.dat
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Kerrigan/wallet.dat
Linux: ~/.kerrigan/wallet.dat

Step 2 — Install the new release over the top

Quit the running wallet, then install the latest version into the same location. It uses the same data directory, so it opens your existing wallet.dat and your balance is already there.

Step 3 — Start it and let it sync

Open the upgraded wallet and let it catch up to the network tip. Jumping across several versions, the first sync can take a while.

If a very old version stalls during sync, do a fresh resync — start from the current bootstrap or a clean data directory (after backing up your wallet.dat). If your old balance doesn't appear after a full sync, bring your backup and the version numbers to #support.
