What is Kerrigan?
AI is being built on a wave of new datacenters, and they aren't cheap for the places that host them. They pull huge amounts of power and water from nearby towns, and they're running out of room — so they keep creeping closer to where people actually live, rows of GPUs humming 24/7 next to someone's back yard.
Kerrigan is a different bet: the hardware already exists. Millions of capable GPUs sit in homes, idle most of the day. Kerrigan's AI network — Kerrigan Swarm — puts that hardware to work and pays the people who own it, instead of pouring concrete for another datacenter. And because no company runs it, no company logs what you ask; the network doesn't track your usage. That's the point: private AI, on hardware that's already out there, instead of AI that costs a town its water.
Under the hood, KRGN is the proof-of-work blockchain that makes this work: the payment rail the Swarm runs on, and a chain secured by four mining algorithms at once. Here's how the pieces fit.
Four algorithms, one chain
Most proof-of-work coins run a single algorithm, which makes them cheap to attack: rent enough hashrate for a few hours and rewrite history. Kerrigan runs four at once.
| Algorithm | Type | Best hardware |
|---|---|---|
| X11 | ASIC | Bitmain Antminer D9 |
| Equihash 200,9 | ASIC | Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro |
| KawPoW | GPU | Nvidia RTX 4090 |
| Equihash 192,7 | GPU | Nvidia RTX 4090 |
An attacker would need to dominate all four hashrate markets, ASIC and GPU, at the same time. (Full device list with hashrates and power is in the mining guide and the calculator.)
On top of that, Signers, nodes with earned on-chain mining history, countersign valid blocks. Blocks with good seals carry more chain weight, so a reorg has to overwhelm the signer set too. That takes weeks to build, not hours to rent.
Kerrigan Swarm
Swarm is a marketplace where GPU operators serve LLM inference and get paid in KRGN, per token, on-chain.
- A GPU operator runs a Drone that registers on-chain and joins the network.
- A Coordinator indexes the Drones and exposes the API clients use.
- A client requests inference, pays in KRGN, and gets the response.
The honesty check is what makes it work: the Drone commits to its output before the client picks which tokens to verify, then the client samples a few positions and compares them against an independent verifier. The Drone can't know which positions get checked, so faking them doesn't pay off. If it generates fewer tokens than you paid for, it refunds the difference on-chain.

What KRGN is for
| Activity | KRGN flow |
|---|---|
| Mine a block | Earn a share of the 25 KRGN reward |
| Run a masternode | Earn block rewards |
| Run a Swarm Drone | Earn KRGN per inference token |
| Use Swarm inference | Spend KRGN per token, refunded for unused |
| Governance | Masternodes vote on treasury proposals |
A locked growth treasury, funded per block, pays for development through on-chain governance.
Masternodes and BroodNodes
- Regular masternode — 10,000 KRGN collateral. Earns block rewards, votes on proposals.
- BroodNode — 40,000 KRGN collateral. Same, plus top-tier signing privileges: the blocks it seals carry more weight and are harder to rewrite.
Collateral is never spent. It stays locked in your wallet and unlocks when you exit.
The numbers
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Block time | ~2 minutes |
| Block reward | 25 KRGN (halves over time) |
| Max supply | ~52.5 million KRGN |
| Algorithms | 4 (X11, KawPoW, Equihash 200,9, Equihash 192,7) |
| Masternode / BroodNode | 10,000 / 40,000 KRGN |
| Address prefix | uppercase K |
